How does it work?
The website is designed to assist Icelandic families with renting out their summerhouses when they are not using them. You can simply list your property on our website, mark the days that are already booked or you want to use it. Then we rent assist you in renting out all the free days.
Bookings
- You reserve in the calendar the days that you and your family wants to use the property. The days that are not reserved our users can book.
- The bookings go through our booking system, that means you don´t have to answer phonecalls and emails with inquiries.
- As soon as your property is booked you and the tenant will receive an confirmation email, where you will find all the information about the booking. You can then contact the tenant to inform him about where he can pick up the keys and give him further information about the property.
- The system is a realtime booking system, that means that if a certain day is available the tenant can book it immediately without you having to confirm it. Therefore it is very important that you reserve all the days that are not available with good advance.
- A booking must be made with at least 24 hours in advance, so you will never receive a booking on the arrival day.
Payments
- When the property is booked the tenant pays the total amount with a credit card.
- The payments are paid to the owners for each month at the beginning of the next month. However if the payment comes after the 21. of that month the payment gets delayed one month.
Safety
- You can never be 100% safe that nothing will happen when you rent out your property. Búngaló is not responsible for what happens to the property but we have done everything we can to improve your situation should anything happen.
- When a property is rented through Búngaló the tenant must agree to detailed terms (See here) that improves your situation should anything happen.
- Only individuals with active credit cards can book through the system.
- The tenant must be at least 22 years old.
- We recommend that you talk to your insurance provider, get a summerhouse-insurance and get detailed information from them about what is included in the insurance.
Commission
- It is free to list your property on the Búngaló website but each time we rent it out for you we take a 15%+vat commission. That way you can be sure that you never have to pay us unless we get you a tenant.
